My expectations for this class is
to help me understand local environmental issues better. I would like to learn
more ways to make our world more sustainable. I am not from here, I am from
Haiti. Haiti is a place where there is no Environmental Protection Agency or a
Department of Agriculture.
After doing some research, my
definition of sustainability is the ability for our environment to last and
replenish for the future. My goal is to become a dentist. I don’t believe that
I could manage that without simple things such as running water, power, and
clean air. The ability to maintain our environment and create better ways to
manage resources will greatly benefit the future of any profession.
Personal attitudes or behaviors
that are unsustainable are those that do not have a sense of responsibility to
do his or her part. Recycling, for example, is a sustainable behavior. Many
people feel that just one person will not make a difference, so they choose not
to participate. It’s feelings like these that place our world in danger.
